and it is negative. I have to say, MO gets pretty good marks from me overall for her fashion. There have been some hits and some misses, but last night was a HUGE miss. At first I thought the dress was down right hideous. The dress was ill fitting and made even worse by the sweater. But after seeing the original dress on a model, it is actually not that bad. However, it is clear that some dresses are only meant to be worn by a certain body type.
I applaud her choice to not use a personal stylist on the campaign, but perhaps a little fashion advice or a stylist would have been wise prior to stepping out in front of the world as the first lady elect.

I was deeply troubled by the loss of Tim Russert today. Our nation stands at the precipice of either a chance at redemption or falling further from grace, and Tim was in the position to have a front row seat to history. So few can claim such a spot and perhaps that fuels my grief.
I watched his show numerous times and I had great respect for him and his professionalism. Yes, there were times where I wanted him to push further, there were times where I yelled the question to him as if he could hear me, but I kept watching.
My heart goes out to his family and to big Russ.

I rode down to watch the Menlo Park crit today. Along the way there & back I passed about a million food places that looked enticing, a few of which I've been to and others that I've been scoping. I decided that today was a day that I would stay fueled by stopping & eating whenever I felt hungry. And so...
6:30 am Panaderia La Mexicana (24th St, San Francisco) - 1 pan dulce ($1)
8:00 am Pamplemousse (Broadway St, Redwood City) - 1 cinnamon brioche, 1 latte ($5)
11:30 am Jimenez Taqueria (Broadway St, Redwood City) - 1 al pastor taco ($1)
11:45 am Chavez Supermarket (Arguello St, Redwood City) - 1 al pastor taco w guacamole ($2.50)
12:15 pm Alana's (Burlingame Ave, Burlingame) - 1 chocolate chip scone ($2.50)
12:45 pm Tacos Toñito (Huntington Ave, San Bruno) - 2 carnitas tacos ($2)
1:30 pm Philz Coffee (24th St, San Francisco) - 1 turkish coffee ($3)
Sort of an expensive ride, as it turns out... but my taste buds were very happy and I felt fantastic the whole ride. I wonder if they can start handing out roasted pork in the feed zone at races.
But a good one:
romaine
cherry tomatoes
red pepper
cucumber
dried cranberries
almonds (warmed in the toaster oven)
goat cheese
chicken breast
TJ's sesame soy ginger vinaigrette
On the side:
whole wheat pita
hummus
All told: 635 calories (47:24:29 carb/prot/fat). It's a recovery day, so this was slightly lower carb than usual. The salad was good, but I feel like eating a loaf of bread right now.
Toasted english muffin, buttered
1 egg white, scrambled
1 tbsp parmesan cheese
salt & pepper
Do not skip the butter- this makes it delicious!
Here's one I just concocted:
cut up banana
cut up orange
1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
tbsp honey
285 calories (82:15:3 carb/prot/fat)... pretty awesome post-workout snack. The yogurt/honey combo is particularly nice.
